Getting a recall notice in the mail can be stressful, especially if you're juggling a busy schedule at Fort Stewart or getting ready for a PCS. The good news: recall repairs are free, and we're here to make them easy. Below are the current Jeep and Ram recalls we're tracking this fall, how to check your VIN, and how to book your repair at Liberty CDJR.
How to check if your vehicle has an open recall
Find your VIN. Your 17-character Vehicle Identification Number is on the VIN plate on the driver's side of the dashboard, just below the windshield. You'll also find it on the driver-side door frame label and on your registration, title and insurance documents.
Enter it at NHTSA.gov/recalls. NHTSA's free VIN lookup shows open safety recalls on your vehicle.
Or check with Mopar. Use Mopar's official recall lookup for recalls and service campaigns on Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles.
Book your free repair. Schedule service online or call our service department at (912) 581-3441.
Manufacturers notify registered owners by first-class mail, but you don't have to wait for the letter to check your VIN. When you get a notice, NHTSA advises following any interim safety guidance from the manufacturer and contacting your dealer for the free fix.
Jeep Grand Cherokee rear coil spring recall (NHTSA 26V-562 / FCA 89D)
This recall covers an estimated 328,381 vehicles. It's the one we hear about most from Grand Cherokee owners around Hinesville and Savannah.
Who's affected
Certain:
2021–2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
2022–2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2022–2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe
Not every vehicle from these years is included, so check your VIN to confirm.
The risk
According to NHTSA, the rear coil springs may be incorrectly installed and can detach from the vehicle while driving. A detached rear coil spring increases the risk of a crash.
The fix and parts status
Dealers will replace the rear coil spring lower isolators, free of charge. NHTSA's recall record says interim letters explaining the safety risk were mailed to owners on Sept. 29, 2026, and more letters will follow once the final remedy is available. To check on parts for your vehicle, call our service team at (912) 581-3441. You can also reach FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
Already repaired before?
Yes, you still need to come back. This recall replaces earlier recalls 23V-413 and 26V-051. NHTSA says vehicles already repaired under those recalls need the new remedy too.
2026 Ram 1500 TPMS sensor recall (NHTSA 26V-623 / FCA 51D)
Vehicles: an estimated 16,385 model-year 2026 Ram 1500 trucks (certain vehicles, so check your VIN)
The problem: The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors may fail to detect low tire pressure or fail to turn on the TPMS warning light. A warning light that doesn't alert you to low tire pressure increases the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will inspect the tire pressure sensors and replace them as needed, free of charge.
Owner letters: expected to be mailed Oct. 27, 2026. VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov on Oct. 6, 2026.
Until your truck is checked, it's smart to check your tire pressure with a gauge regularly.

Vehicles: an estimated 265,512 vans, including certain 2022–2026 Ram ProMaster 1500, 2500 and 3500 vans and 2024–2026 Ram ProMaster EV vans (listed by NHTSA as the Ram 3500 Electric)
The problem: Water may get into the electric power steering wiring harness, which can disable power steering assist. Losing power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will inspect the wiring harness and electric power steering gear and replace them as needed, free of charge.
Owner letters: interim letters explaining the safety risk are expected to be mailed Nov. 17, 2026, with more letters once the final remedy is available.

The problem: The pivot bolts for the roof rack crossbars may not have been tightened properly, which can let the crossbars detach. A detached crossbar can create a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will replace the roof rack crossbar pivot bolts, free of charge.
